25 December, 2020

The personnel of the Center for Humanitarian Demining and Special Works took part in the survey of the territory for the presence of explosive objects (HOP), their subsequent removal and destruction for individual housing construction in order to provide large families in the Otradnensky urban settlement of Kirovsky municipal district of the Leningrad region.

As a result of the survey of these land plots, 78 units of various explosive objects were discovered, removed and destroyed.

Expert Comment:
In the Leningrad region there are regular searches for explosive objects from World War II and their destruction. This is due to the fact that some of the fiercest battles took place here. Even in spite of total demining carried out in the first post-war years, landowners often find unexploded shells and mines during land works – the earth “pushes” them to the surface. Therefore, a survey of the territory at the initial stages of construction for the presence of a VOP will allow you to avoid the problems associated with this in the future.
